What Happens When It Rains During Your Senior Session?
As a Main Line senior photographer, I always plan for the best, but sometimes the weather has other ideas. When Olivia arrived for her senior session at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, the skies opened up with a steady drizzle that didn’t let up. But here's the thing—rescheduling wasn’t an option. It was the very last day Longwood was allowing non-permit sessions, and we were determined to make it work. With some creativity, flexibility, and a lot of laughter, Olivia’s session turned out to be absolutely magical—proof that a little rain can’t dim a senior’s sparkle.
Armed with an umbrella (always a must-have for unpredictable weather!), we embraced the soft light that only a rainy day can offer. The raindrops on the glasshouse windows, the lush greens glistening with moisture, and the peaceful atmosphere gave the session a storybook quality. Olivia was a total natural in front of the camera, and her easygoing attitude helped turn what could have been a stressful situation into something unforgettable. As a Philadelphia senior photographer, I always encourage my clients to roll with it—you never know when a little rain might make your session even more special.
Olivia brought multiple outfit options, which added variety and allowed us to adapt to different spaces around the gardens. From a soft, floral dress that looked stunning among the blooming pathways, to a sleek, classic look that paired beautifully with the architectural backdrops, she nailed the perfect mix of timeless and trend-forward. Planning a wardrobe with versatility in mind is always a smart move, especially when you’re working with nature’s curveballs. As a Chester and Montgomery County senior photographer, I help my clients prepare for everything- including weather and wardrobe!
This session wasn’t just about the photos- it was about celebrating Olivia and the exciting road ahead. A proud graduate of Archbishop Carroll’s Class of 2025, Olivia is headed to Penn State this fall, and her joy and anticipation shone through in every image. Capturing this moment-this transition from high school to college, from one chapter to the next- is what senior portraits are all about.
Whether we’re working under the golden sun or a soft summer drizzle, I believe every senior deserves a portrait experience that feels elevated, personal, and joy-filled. Rain or shine, your story deserves to be captured beautifully.
